Indian Men Can't Handle an Attractive Lady

Men’s brains are wired differently and this excuse has been used to explain their sexist tendencies since forever. And here’s more proof. Two days back, a Kerala based Facebook group Kochi Pazhaya Kochiyalla uploaded the image of a lady named Merin Joseph in a police uniform,  along with the question - How many likes for our new ACP of Kochi ?

What followed was a barrage of comments and memes from awestruck men who went gaga over her beauty. Positive comments , lauding her for the achievement got lost in between. The post went viral on Facebook and her image was widely shared on WhatsApp too.

So enamored were they by her looks, they totally failed to see what she stood for, i.e taking on the tough job of being a police officer. The post , it turned out, was entirely false. Merin isn't ACP, but an IPS officer in training.These men couldn't care less about Merin’s achievements, but we do. Ms. Joseph passed the civil services examination in her first attempt, after graduating from the capital's St. Stephen’s College. She is one of the youngest IPS trainees in her batch and was recently selected to lead an Indian delegation to the ‘Y20’ Australia summit. Speaking to the Hindu,  she expressed her desire to inspire more women to join the police force. “If one woman can inspire a few other women, then they in turn can inspire others.

After the post went viral, an alarmed Merin even put out a disclaimer.

But it turned out to be an exercise in futility. The men directed their lust to this post with comments-because clearly they weren't interested in knowing the facts. They conveniently chose to ignore the update, because as long as there is a pretty face to stare at, who cares? It didn’t matter to them that she wasn't the ACP, she was still hot enough to ogle. And their fantasies spilled over to her Facebook page as well.

Sadly, for the few women who shared the clarification were made targets of the sexist jibes, accused of being jealous of Merin.

Merin also found herself being an unwilling subject of bawdy memes titled 'Sundar Policewali'.










The internet is a great place to be for such men who can conveniently hide behind their computer screens and pass cowardly comments. A woman can be a CEO, a police officer, even the head of a country. But the only thing that will matter to them is how hot she looks!
